Fixed versus floating rates

How Instant fixed and floating quotes differ, what expires, and when each may be appropriate.

Floating rates

A floating quote estimates payout based on market conditions around execution. The amount you receive can move between quote and completion. Min and max limits still apply.

Fixed rates

A fixed quote aims to lock an expected payout for a validity window, often with stricter deposit timing. If the rate expires or markets move beyond tolerances, the exchange may fail, refund, or require a new quote — follow the status shown in Track.

Choosing carefully

Fixed rates can reduce payout uncertainty during volatile periods if you can deposit promptly. Floating rates can be more flexible when you need time, but they expose you to market movement. Neither option removes network fee or operational risk.
